Could our world be on the brink or another World War? With tensions growing ever stronger, a threat of war, and a possible missile launch from North Korea, and unpleasant bed-fellows China and Russia at odds with the US, it seems the skies are darkening. So once again, here is your news.
Recent Japanese Intelligence reports say there is fear that North Korea may be planning the launch of one of its long-range ballistic Taepodong-2 missiles at Hawaii on or close to July 4th. Though Hawaii sits approximately 4,500 miles from North Korea and the ballistic missiles range is roughly 4,000 miles, there is still the possibility that the missile could reach the Hawaiian Islands. From what is understood, the communist regime plans to launch the missile sometime between July 4th and July 8th. Obviously the launch would coincide with the States Independence day, but it would also be the third anniversary of Koreas first launch of the Taepodong-2 missile on July 4th 2006. Recent US satellite imaging has shown the construction of a missile launch pad on the Korea north-west at Dongchang-ri.
Vice Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staffs, General James Cartwright says it would take at least 3-5 years for North Korea to pose a real threat to the United States. Though according to arms-watchdog International Crisis Group (ICG) they believe North Korea has several thousand tons of chemical weapons that could be mounted on missiles, or used to bombard neighboring counterpart South Korea.
Last week the UN Security Council authorized the inspection of all outbound goods bound for North Korea, and the seizure and destruction of goods that violate the current sanctions. North Koreas response to these actions was to threaten war and the bolstering of their nuclear program.
In a response to the North Korean threat, and the speculation of a possible missile launch, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said he had directed the deployment of the Theater High Altitude Area Defense, a mobile missile defense system used for the interception of long range ballistic missiles. Ground based interceptors were also moved into place “should it become necessary, to protect the American territory."
Once again we are faced with the fact that a country that has shown very blatant hostility towards the US is being allowed to arrogantly snub their nose at us, as we sit on the sidelines waiting to see their plans. Is it acceptable to wait for a few thousand dead civilians, South Korean or American?
Another unrelated incident that deserves a quick glance, NBCNEWS, owned by American corporate giant General Electric, has been accused of purposely giving biased coverage of President Obama. The reason? General Electric (GE) has the opportunity in upcoming months to be given billions of dollars in federal contracts. If given exceptionally positive media limelight by GE corporate daughter NBC, seems only fair for Obama to respond with favorability. This ladies and gentlemen is what we very plain and simple call, political buyout.
There you have it once again, a world possibly on the brink of war, and a country on the verge of uprooting its own cornerstones. A famous man once said "Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one” -Thomas Paine. Government by and for the people, let us not so easily forget.

ReplyDeleteExcellent writing. I am inspired. It will be the young conservative steeped in moral conviction to cause this nation to once again rise. The price of Freedom is just getting higher and higher.
ReplyDeleteContinue on young man. You are the true hope for a nation being swayed in a hypnotic slumber.
And Mamma, thank you, you did good, you should be proud.
Canticle is a novel that takes place in the future right after a nuclear holocaust. The book is sectioned in three parts which first mirror the dark ages, the enlightenment, and eventually another even greater nuclear holocaust. Unfortunately, current geopolitics reminds me a lot of the third section.
ReplyDeleteCheck the book out though, you'd probably like it.
